After completing a NIM session, what should the student do?

The student's retelling of the text that was read is an important activity that reinforces comprehension and internalization of the narrative or informational content. This process encourages the student to organize their thoughts and recall key details, which are essential components of developing effective reading skills. Retelling helps in strengthening the student's understanding of the text's structure, vocabulary, and main ideas, providing an opportunity for them to engage critically with the material. This strategy also allows the instructor to assess the student's comprehension and oral language skills.

Engaging in a word search, submitting a written response, or reading a new passage silently, while beneficial in their own contexts, do not provide the same immediate opportunity for the student to actively process and articulate their understanding of the material just encountered during the NIM session. Each of these activities serves different educational purposes but lacks the direct connection to recounting and synthesizing the information from the session.
